    Friday Roundup Aug 17th

Well it’s been a good week here at the Roll Easy. Lots of growth in the blog and it’s so dang fun to do. Working a blog into your daily life is not always easy but so far this has been working great.

It’s been a hot for Portland. I say hot for Portland because everyplace in North America has been hot and some much hotter than here. It’s just we don’t get triple digits very often. It’s a bit like snowing in Saharan Africa, a sober day in New Orleans, or a day without Coffee in Seattle. It just doesn’t happen.

The Most Important Thing I Learned This Week.

That I'm just as addicted to Wassabi Peas as are the Ant's that are trying to claim my house.

That I get a song in my head and I will sing it all day while I'm driving.

There are great people out there who support me.

    Tale of the Drive

    Monday Aug. 13th

Reported to work at 12:30 PM. sat on report until 3:22

Work: Run 127 bus “7734 Halsey”

    Starting Location: Powell Garage

Rolling Time: 3:23 PM until 7:41 PM

Song of the Day Cant Stop wont stop toys for boys.

Bonus: Can’t stop, won’t stop song going through my head made the time fly by. I must have sung Toy’s for Boy’s a million times.

Negative: Old 1400 bus was dirty, no air conditioning and only about half the windows opened and then only about half way. This day was the hardest day of the week period. I was way way way too hot driving this beast.

     Tuesday Aug 14th

    Work:  Run 86 “19 Woodstock/Glisan”

Starting Location: Powell and Millwaukie Eastbout

Rolling TIme: 11:22 AM until 9:52 PM

Song of the Day: By Wize crack, Yeah Budy

Bonus: Get this Tuesday was both hotter and longer than monday but.. felt easier because I had a nice low floor new bus on a route that has shade and trees. It felt strange to be done before 10:00 PM I need more of that in my life.

Negative: Strange guy on my bus kept shouting "Ask Willie he knows, He knows about it!" at random times. Busses Overheated all over the place, yet I keep running.

    Wednesday

Report to work 12:00 PM to 1:20 PM

    Work Run 151 “12 Sandy/Barbur”

Starting Location: Sandy and 82nd West Bount

Rolling Time: 2:21 PM to 11:51 PM  +30 Minutes late

Song of the Day: Patton theme song.

Bonus: Nothing was good on this day.

Negative: One of the worse traffic days I have ever seen, it was crazy. Peoples tempers were on edge. Broke up three verbal altercations between riders. The secret is to stop them before they go to DefCon 5 and fist started flying. Everyone bitched about me being late, good news is I don't care.

     Thursday

Report to work  3:00 PM until 4:27 Pm

    Work Run 247  “72 82nd/Killingsworth”

Starting Location: 82nd and Powell Northbound

Rolling Time: 5:28 PM until 11:13 PM

Song of the day: One more by can’t stop, wont stop.

Bonus: Packed up a bunch of stuff in my new cooler and gave away 105 bottles of ice water, 22 apple juice pouches, 15 green apples, 12 red apples all chilled on ice.

Negative: Lugging cooler, ice at all those bottles. 47 blocks of a kid crying, this was a little boy about 7 crying as loud as he could for his month over and over for almost a half hour. Imagine doing your job with that going on.

    Friday

    Work: Run 147 “19 Woodstock/Glisan”

    Starting Location:

Rolling Time: From 1:35 PM to 11:37

Song of the day: Oingo Boing We close our eyes.

Bonus: No lugging around water and a cooler today but I got frozen bottles of water to take with me so hooray.

Negative: Today is going to be like Africa hot, not Australia hot but Africa hot.

That's how it all went down this week. A very hard week with all the heat. My mission today is to bring a little love to my riders and to weather the heat wave as best I can. Love ya Portland.

    Roll Easy my Friends.

    See ya next week.
